The area

Castel Bois Clair is well situated amidst beautiful scenery and countryside and yet only a short drive from town with shops and restaurants.
One of the main attractions is the city of Vichy, a town steeped in history, dating back to the beginning of the era when the Romans discovered the healing powers of the Vichy wells. These wells are omnipresent throughout the town’s history. There is fine architecture and the city has a fashionable atmosphere. Maybe that’s why Parisians call Vichy ”Petit Paris”. For those who already want to explore the town these links might be useful:

|
Furthermore, there is a wide variety of restaurants, tea and coffee houses throughout Vichy. In the fashionable shopping area you can “shop till you drop”. There are two walks through town from which you can enjoy the architecture and history of this beautiful place. Adjoining the town centre there are major parks through which the river Allier flows. Vichy will astound you.

Other cities to visit:
The following cities are undoubtedly worth a visit: Clermont Ferrand, city of Michelin and its cathedral built of black volcanic rock. Moulins is a city with lots of historical highlights and a beautiful town centre. Furthermore, there are some medieval gems like mustard town Charroux, wine town St. Pourçain-sur-Sioule with the oldest vineyards of France, however towns like Gannat Ebreul Riom and Thiers are also very attractive.

|
Golf:
There is choice of golf courses in the vicinity of Castel Bois Clair. The most striking is the 18-hole course of Vichy on the banks of the river Allier:

In the area there are numerous signposted walking trails of varying distances which run through the hilly landscape of the Allier.
The quiet lanes make cycling very attractive, though because of the hilly landscape, a bike with gears is recommended.

Culture and Nature:
There are several wine and castle trails which you can start from Castel Bois Clair. The Allier is known as an area “with a castle on every street corner”. A spin through the Gorges de la Sioule is magnificent. The road follows the course of the river Sioule. The Puy de Dome with its volcanic landscape is also within reach.

|
|
East of Castel Bois Clair you can find the splendid low mountain range La Montagne Bourbonnaise with its Roman churches and unspoilt nature.

Regardless of the weather, the amusement parks of Le Pal and Vulcania make a perfect day out for all of the family. Furthermore, there is the brand new swimming paradise in Vichy with its indoor and outdoor pools and saunas.
